66. Martial Arts, Energy & Epigenetics with Marek Chromik

What if your healing didn’t start with a prescription, but with your posture? With how you breathe, how you move, and how you speak to yourself?

In Episode 66 of Everyday Epigenetics: Raw. Real. Relatable, Susan Robbins and Kate King sit down with holistic wellness guide and martial arts instructor Marek Chromik, and the conversation is nothing short of transformational.

From Martial Arts to Mindful Healing

Marek’s journey began with Chinese Kung Fu and kickboxing, but it was a knee injury during a training trip to China that led him to the slower, subtler arts of Tai Chi and Qigong. That detour turned into a life path.

Through these practices, Marek discovered that healing isn’t about force, it’s about flow. Movement became a mirror for inner work, and his physical training evolved into a deep dive into energy, emotion, breath, and awareness.

The Power of Slowing Down

In a culture addicted to speed, Marek offers a radical shift: slow down.

Tai Chi and Qigong are deceptively gentle practices that train the nervous system, build resilience, and invite the body into deep healing. Marek explains that tension is often a symptom of mental or emotional blocks. When we learn to soften, through breath, intention, and movement, we begin to release stored trauma and free up energy.

One of his most powerful metaphors? “If your body is a beautiful boat, emotional blockages are the holes in the hull. You can’t sail anywhere until you patch the leaks.”

Breath, Fascia, and Frequency

The episode explores how fascia, the connective web in your body, carries energy five times faster than your nervous system. With breath, focused awareness, and gentle stretching, we can literally reprogram how our body stores and moves energy.

And according to Marek, everything starts with awareness. Once you’re aware, you have choice. And once you choose, you can begin again, more grounded, more free.

Living as a Peaceful Warrior

Marek’s work is about embodying both strength and softness. His Peaceful Warrior workshops and online programs guide people to move, breathe, and live with intention, healing not just their bodies, but their entire being.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about fighting disease. It’s about becoming more of who you really are.

Learn more about our guest Marek Chromik:

Marek started his journey in Martial Arts in 2002 with a Brazilian martial art called Capoeira. His accomplishments in martial arts include a black belt in Sorim Kung Fu and a title of Sifu (Master) with the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association – Wing Chun Kung Fu. In the 20+ years of studying martial arts, Marek has traveled to the Wudang mountains in China for Kung Fu and Tai Chi with the Taoist Monks, and Qigong and intrinsic energies of Tai Chi in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Experiencing the internal energy component of martial arts was life changing.

What began as a physical practice to master Kung Fu has turned into a lifelong exploration into the internal aspects of martial arts, healing, and energy work.

Marek has been sharing his knowledge with students and teaching martial arts since 2007. The idea of Eclectic Ground as a community and gathering of knowledge has been around since nearly the beginning of Marek’s study.

In 2012 he took the opportunity to make it a reality and has developed and supported this idea and space ever since. Eclectic Ground continues to evolve as a concept where martial arts, meditation, breathwork, self-awareness, and authentic living can be explored with focused intentions and playful collaborations.
