At 64, Pam has lost 45 pounds without a GLP-1, but that is only one part of her transformation. For years, Pam knew something wasn’t right.
She was gaining weight, struggling with her health, and becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of answers. She had tried different approaches, including GLP-1 medications, but nothing felt like a lasting solution. Eventually, she and her husband reached a point where they were simply tired of feeling stuck.
At 64, Pam could have accepted that this was just what getting older looked like. Instead, she started asking different questions.
In Episode 137 of Everyday Epigenetics: Raw. Real. Relatable., Susan sits down with Pam for Part 1 of a special two-part series sharing the health journeys of two sisters, and what happened when they stopped relying on generalized health advice and started looking at their individual biology.
Looking Beyond the Number on the Scale
Pam’s transformation includes an incredible 45-pound weight loss, but this episode is about much more than weight.
By looking at Pam’s genetics, labs, lifestyle, stress, metabolism, digestion, and nutrition together, Susan was able to identify factors that had previously been overlooked. Instead of assuming Pam simply needed to eat less or try harder, they began uncovering the why behind what her body was doing.
That deeper investigation revealed important information about her metabolic and cardiovascular health, including genetic risks involving Lp(a) and phytosterolemia. Suddenly, pieces of her health story that had seemed disconnected began making more sense.
When Personalized Actually Means Personalized
Pam’s story is also a reminder of why there is no single “healthy” diet or lifestyle that works for everyone.
Changes had to be tailored to her body, and that didn’t mean the process was always easy. There were frustrations, adjustments, digestive challenges, and plenty of honest conversations along the way. But instead of jumping from one quick fix to another, Pam began building habits around what her individual body needed.
And the results went far beyond losing weight.
At 64, Pam feels dramatically better and has gained something perhaps even more valuable: a clearer understanding of her own health and what she can do to influence it.
It’s Not Too Late to Change Your Health Story
One of the most powerful parts of Pam’s story is that she didn’t give up when previous attempts hadn’t worked.
Her experience challenges the idea that feeling worse, gaining weight, or losing energy are simply inevitable parts of getting older. Sometimes the answer isn’t more discipline or another generic protocol. Sometimes you need someone willing to look deeper and connect the dots.

Learn More about Pam:

Hi, I’m Pam, and caring for people has been the heartbeat of my life, ever since childhood and now as a wife, mother, nurse and teacher. In my nursing career (which I began in the US Army), I worked not only directly with patients but also teaching nursing at the college level – where I saw firsthand not only the stress and anxiety of illness on patients and their families, but also the stress that students and faculty can carry every single day.
After retiring from nursing, life took me overseas for 15 years, where I became an international primary school teacher. I lived and worked in multiple countries, each new culture bringing incredible experiences but also its share of challenges. I’ve witnessed and personally felt the impact of life’s stressors, and I know how essential brain wellness is for navigating through them with resilience.
When I discovered IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback, it wasn’t just another tool, it became part of my own healing journey. This gentle, noninvasive technology helped me find clarity, calm, and balance in ways I didn’t think possible. Now through Galenoia Brain Wellness, I’m honored to share it with others so they can experience the same transformation.
